SAUNA Project Showcased at BioCircleToZero 2026

On 2 September 2026, the SAUNA project was presented at the annual BioCircleToZero seminar hosted by ANDRITZ. The event brought together representatives from universities, research organisations and companies to discuss innovative solutions for creating greater value from biomass and advancing the transition towards a more sustainable and circular bioeconomy.

The BioCircleToZero programme focuses on unlocking the unused potential of Finnish forests, with the ambitious vision of doubling the value obtained from wood without harvesting more trees. This objective strongly resonates with the goals of SAUNA and its work towards developing innovative and sustainable biorefinery solutions.

As part of the programme, Markus Paananen presented the SAUNA project to the event participants. Using selected slides from the project's general presentation, Markus introduced the project, its overall objectives and its contribution to the development of future sustainable biorefinery concepts.

The presentation focused on the broader vision and objectives of SAUNA, without disclosing confidential research data or going into technical details. This provided an opportunity to introduce the project to a diverse audience of researchers, industry representatives and other stakeholders working in the field of the bioeconomy.

The event proved to be an excellent opportunity to increase the visibility of the SAUNA project and to raise awareness of its research and innovation activities among relevant stakeholders. SAUNA received great visibility and attention during the event, highlighting the strong interest in innovative approaches to making better and more sustainable use of biomass resources.
