Sustainable pulping innovation achieving zero pollution through efficient wood residue feedstock utilisation, known as SAUNA, is a European Union-funded project focused on developing a novel pulping concept designed to achieve zero pollution through efficient utilization of wood residue feedstock.

The objective of the SAUNA project is to enhance the environmental performance of pulp production significantly compared to the conventional kraft process.

The SAUNA project involves 11 partners contributing from 7 different countries. The project started in May 2025, and it is spanned over a total of 36 months.
